Dr. Sara Estrick
Veterinarian and Practice Owner
I grew up in Mason City, Iowa where I spent a lot of time begging my parents for dogs, cats, and ponies. By the time I finished undergrad at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa and veterinary school at Iowa State University in 2000, I had accumulated 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a husband. After graduation, the six of us set off for Kenosha, Wisconsin where I started my veterinary career (and acquired yet another dog). In 2001 I began practicing in Libertyville, IL. Over the next 18 years, I developed my skills, worked with a wonderful team of people and formed rewarding relationships with many valued clients. I also added two human boys and a potentially uncountable number of pets to the family over these years.
Good Life Veterinary Care was created in 2019 out of my passion to help pets and people live good lives together. I strive to provide compassionate medical care and education to pet owners in a warm and welcoming environment with a team who shares my goals. I enjoy many aspects of veterinary practice including preventative care, internal medicine, geriatric care, and behavior, but my favorite part of my work is when the care and education I provide to families improve their understanding of their pet’s behavioral or medical needs and strengthens their bond.
When I’m not spending time with your families and pets, I like to spend time with my family – husband Neil who runs a pottery studio in Grayslake and sons Jack and Henry. We currently have 5 furry family members – Brittany spaniels Chip and Tug, Good-ol’-Farm-Dog Mutt Annie, and cats Banjo and Waffles. We try to find time for long walks with the dogs, bike rides, downhill skiing and trips to our favorite Iowa lake when we can. I am sure there will be more pets added to our family as we continue to volunteer to foster senior and medically-challenged dogs for American Brittany Rescue and the kids have already chosen names for our next 5 kittens. Plus, I’m still begging for a pony….
